STAR RATING SYSTEM FOR GOLF COURSES
GreenScape recently called for a 'Star Rating System' for golf courses
in Ireland and in so doing announced its proposals for such a system. The
support of the Irish Government and Tourism Bodies is now being sought in order
to progress the proposal past discussion stage.
The idea behind the proposal has measurable benefits in terms of golf business
development and marketing. It will be beneficial to golfers around the world,
who will know the standards they can expect from their chosen golf venue in
Ireland, to the golf facilities themselves, who, through identifiably
independent assessment will have all aspects of their facility and operation
assessed, and to golf tourism in Ieland.
In time there is no reason why the rating system cannot become as
internationally recognised and accepted as that used by the hotel industry
worldwide.
Overall the rating system has massive benefits for consumers and the industry
and GreenScape is confident of receiving all necessary backing for the
scheme.
